Car washes in the United States come in four main formats: the express tunnel, where you stay in the car while a conveyor pulls it through brushes or high-pressure jets; the full-service wash, where attendants vacuum and wipe down the interior after the tunnel; the self-service bay with a coin or card-operated pressure wand, foam brush and vacuums; and the hand wash, where a crew washes and dries the car by hand. Touchless tunnels skip the cloth brushes entirely and rely on chemicals and water pressure, which is gentler on paint but less effective on heavy grime. Most express chains sell an unlimited monthly plan, usually priced at two to three single washes, that is only worth it if you wash more than twice a month. Gas stations often bundle a discounted wash with a fill-up.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Highly do not recommend this location. I have gone to other mod wash location and had better quality. The first issue I had was the car wash did not touch any of the back of my car. To me that seems to be an easy fix so I went to talk to the manager and I was informed the machines are having issues. That is quite baffling to continue to take payment for a service that’s not possible to do. I was then offered a rewash but the same issue was persist. I requested a refund and was told that I would have to get corporate involved. The manager in contact was helpful but their ability to help on location was very limited. The second issue is the MULTIPLE NEW scratches that came from this car wash. I’m aware they aren’t liable but to think that I just paid $20 to get 3/4 car wash complete and add cosmetic damage to my vehicle. Very disappointed in this experience.

I went to ModWash today to have my car washed and to vacuum it out before a weekend trip. It wasn't until AFTER I paid that the payment attendant told me that the vacuums were down due to a power outage earlier in the day. That was super disappointing, but I decided to go ahead with the car wash because my interior wasn't a big problem. The wash itself, though, left a lot to be desired. It felt like most of the car wash was just scrubbing soap on the car using hardly any water. Even my 67 year old mother who was a passenger remarked that something didn't seem right. Dirty soap was just being scrubbed on the car. I pulled over once the wash was over and saw that bird droppings that had been there couldn't even have been rinsed off. If I had more time to stay, I would have spoken to the attendant and asked for a refund, but I had to pick up my child. Frustrated, I left. When I got home, I wiped my car with paper towels just to see how clean it was and they were COVERED in dirt. Not clean at all. This is the last time I will ever go to ModWash. You can pay the same amount and get a much better car wash elsewhere.

This is the friendliest group of people I've ever seen at a car wash. Gabby is so friendly, kind and helpful. She brightened my day. Best car wash in Fort Mill hands down!

Paid for the premium wash at ModWash thinking it’d be perfect for a kid-destroyed interior… only to find out the entire interior cleaning section was shut off. No vacuums. No air compressors. Nothing. Would’ve been nice if the two employees (including a manager) at the pay booth mentioned that before taking my money. But nope—just swipe and send you through. When I asked about it, the manager acted like I was inconveniencing her by even asking. Blamed rain from earlier and basically said it doesn’t matter since those services are “free.” Interesting take, considering that’s the main reason I (and I’m sure plenty of others) choose this place. Also worth noting: the wash itself smelled like straight-up mold. Might want to check on that. If half your service is down, maybe don’t sell the “premium” experience—or at least give people a heads up. Won’t be back.

I need to rave about the staff at the ModWash in fortmill next to Harris teeter! I locked myself out of my car and what could have been a serious event was just a little speedbump in my day thanks to Aria and Sarah’s quick intervention. Above and beyond and so so kind. These ladies got me going and made sure I was cared for. Heartfelt thanks to the team. Customer service is not a lost art here. Member for life!
